The end of the semester is just around the corner and many organizations have been voting and passing down their power to new leaders.

On Monday, during their weekly meeting, members of the Interfraternity Council did just that, and a new executive board was voted-in.

“The board is comprised of leaders in the Greek community who have taken leadership positions in their chapter, and are looking to move on to something bigger,” freshman business major Jason Levine said.

Levine was elected as the new secretary for the IFC board. Pat Hibben from Pi Lambda Phi was elected as executive vice president and Nick Hoagland, from Pi Lambda Pi, was elected as vice president chief of justice.

The new vice president of programming is Tim Hall from Phi Sigma Kappa, David Gabriel from Sigma Pi is now vice president of academics, Charlie Olsen from Sigma Alpha Epsilon is now vice president of Web communications and Adam Blake from Tau Kappa Epsilon is vice president of recruitment.

The new treasurer will be elected Monday afternoon during the weekly IFC meeting.

According to Levine, the new executive board is much younger than the previous board, but the age does not seem to diminish the optimism they have for each other and for the decisions they will be making.

“We were all motivated and excited for next year. I can tell everyone wants to be in their position as much as I do,” Blake said.

As vice president of recruitment, Blake said he hopes to exceed the number of recruits the fraternities brought in last year, while Levine said he wants to use his new secretary position to better the relationship between the IFC and the other organizations on campus, he said.

The new president of the IFC executive board is public relations major Bryan “CT” Sartory.

Having been a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon since 2007, many believe he will do a great job as president.

“I feel that CT is well qualified to be the president on the Interfraternity Council,” former IFC secretary Aaron Browner said, who is now the vice president for public relations. “He is a dedicated person who will help put Greek life to new heights.  With him being president, I know this board will be very successful for the upcoming school year.”

The ones who will be working with him feel the same way.

Blake is not only in the same fraternity as Sartory, but he is his roommate as well. “CT will be a positive face to represent Greek life, and a leader to take IFC to a new level,” he said.

Sartory said his main focus is on uniting fraternities during his tenure.

“Too often we hear of fraternities fighting and arguing with each other,” he said. “We’re all more similar than everyone thinks and if we take the time to attend each other’s philanthropy events, community service projects, et cetera, we’ll realize we’re not so different.”

Sartory also said he plans on building a connection with the Baltimore County community.

“IFC is a strong and prosperous organization here at Towson and I want to make sure that the University and the surrounding community knows what great things the men involved with our fraternities do,” he said.
