A five-car crash at the corner of Towsontown Boulevard and York Road put a spin into central Towson’s afternoon.

Four of the vehicles involved were stopped at a red light heading down Towsontown Boulevard, waiting to make a left turn onto York road.

The driver of a silver Volkswagen made impact with the stopped vehicles and her car went across the median and onto the sidewalk.

A Ford Crown Victoria, Toyota Corolla, Subaru Forester and a Tele-Tector of Maryland work van were the other vehicles involved in the crash.

Baltimore County Police Department’s Officer First Class Marshall Grunwell of the Towson Precinct and four other police officers were at the scene just before 4 p.m. after the crash occurred.

According to Grunwell, the female driver of the Volkswagen accelerated into the four vehicles in front of her.

The parties involved in the crash declined an interview.

Following the accident, the driver of the Volkswagen was wearing a neck brace and was taken to a local hospital, according to law enforcement.

The owner of the Toyota was also taken to the hospital after she said she was feeling abdominal pains.

“The injuries are not traumatic,” Grunwell said.
